Caution:
- A conservative approach to mapping natural lands results in overestimation of natural lands in some regions.
- It is recommended that this map only be used for purposes that align with the definitions of "natural" used in the map such as setting a corporate "no conversion of natural ecosystems" target associated with SBTN Land.
- It is not recommended to use this map data to quantify the area or proportion of natural or non-natural lands within any spatial region.
- This data concerns a single time slice circa 2020 and does not contain time-series data that may be useful for monitoring conversion.
- This data incorporates regional data with global data and therefore is not globally consistent. If comparing across geographies, refer to the figures and tables in the technical note identifying where regional data was used.
- The definitions of "natural" used in the map does not consider or define attributes such as importance of land for biodiversity or the quality of ecosystems.
